Purpose: To investigate vitreoretinal surgery outcome in patients having posterior segment complications of chronic uveitis. Materials and Methods: 15 eyes of 15 patients with posterir segment complications of chronic uveitis underwent vitreoretinal surgery between 2001 and 2004 in Hospital were investigated. 9 patients had pars planitis, 2 patients had Behcet's disease, one patient had CMV retinitis, one patient had Toxocara retinitis, one patient had acute retinal necrozis and one patient had idiopathic granulomatous uveitis. Posterior segment complications were proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) in 9 eyes, vitreous opacities in 4 eyes and cyclitic membrane with anterior PVR in 2 eyes. Scleral buckling only in 2 eyes, Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) only in 5 eyes and PPV with scleral buckling in remaining 8 eyes were performed. Retinal reattacment was accepted as anatomical succes. Visual acuities of 0.1 and better were accepted as fonctional succes. Results: Mean age of patients was 39.1±15.4 years (11-58). Anatomical succes was achieved in 14 eyes (93.3%). In patient having anterior PVR and cyclitic membrane retina could not be reattached during surgery. Visual acuity improved in 7 eyes, decreased in 2 eyes and not changed in 6 eyes. Functional success was achieved in 5 eyes (33.3%). Conclusion: In eyes having posterior segment complications of chronic uveitis, anatomical results are successfull, but functional results are associated with primary pathology.
