Objective: The aim of this study was do determine level of cognitive functions and activities of daily life at elderly people who live in rest home. Methods: This study was done with 60 elderly people who live Gaziantep Rest Home on 01-15 October 2004. A questionnaire was used in this study that was about sociodemographic characteristics and state of doing activities of daily life. Also Standardized Mini Mental Test for Literate and Illiterate person was used to determine the cognitive functions. Analyzing the data we used frequency and chisquare analysis in SPSS program. Results: We found cognitive disorder %43.3 of the elderly persons. Statue of doing activities of daily life was damaged very much like incontinence seen, using telephone, food and dress shopping, preparing meal, doing housework, exchanging money, know and intake own medication at person who have cognitive disorders and differences between groups were found meaningful as statically (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study it is determined that %43.3 of the elderly person who live in rest home have cognitive disorder also it is determined that disorder at daily life activities was much at elderly who have cognitive disorder. Early determination and treatment of cognitive disorder will increase the quality of life at elderly persons.
