Central venous catheterization (CVC) is employed when a patient needs frequent or continuous injections of medications or fluids for nutritional support. We present a rare complication pertinent to CVC in a 35-year-old male patient in whom the guide wire was left in place following CVC. A plain chest radiogram showed the guide wire lying from the left subclavian vein to the right atrium. The wire was removed intravascularly from the femoral vein after 32 hours following CVC. No complications were encountered before and during the procedure.
