CENTRAL SEROUS CHORIORETINOPATHY AFTER EPIDURAL CORTICOSTEROID INJECTION

UMUT ASLI DİNÇ, MELDA YENEREL, EBRU GÖRGÜN, RACİHA BERİL KÜÇÜMEN

Yeditepe Üniversitesi Göz Hastanesi, Göz Hastalıkları A.D., İstanbul

We describe a case of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) after epidural corticosteroid injection for the treatment of lower back pain related to lumbar hernia. A 45-year-old man presented with blurry and decreased vision in both eyes. Bilateral (CSCR) with multiple focus and diffuse pigment epitheliopathy in the left eye was detected in the fundus examination. All patients receiving systemic corticosteroid treatment by any route should be warned about possible visual symptoms and ocular pathologies, and in that case they should refer to an ophthalmologist at that time. In patients having bilateral CSCR and/or diffuse pigment epitheliopathy, a careful history should be taken including epidural steroid injection in addition to systemic corticosteroid treatment.
