The case of a 42-year-old woman with a 5.8-year history of bilateral amaurosis, is reported. She received an omental transplantation on the optic chiasma. Neurological improvement began two days after the surgery and her pupillary response to light since the third week. One year later, her visual improvement was corroborated by means of visual evoked response and Humphrey automated perimetry. At present, 4 years after surgery, she present slight visual improvement. These results confirms previous experiences, that the surgical technique can improve the function of the ischemic optic chiasma as well as of surrounding areas.
