Aim: The objective of this descriptive study was to evaluate sleep quality of nursing home residents. Material and Methods: Between 25 March- 25 April 2005 a total of 100 elderly individuals who were? 60 years age, and who were residing in T.C. Retirement Foundation Narlıdere Rest and Nursing Home were enrolled in the study. To assess the sleep quality, the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used. In the evaluation of data; "Student's t" test, "one way variance" analysis, and "Tukey post hoc analysis" were used. Results: It was found that 77% of individuals had poor sleep, and mean sleep quality score was 8.02±2.87. Conclusion: The results of this study suggested that sleep quality of nursing home residents is at "low level".
